Happy Women’s Golf day

Today is Women’s Golf Day (WGD), an international event whereby participating golfclubs give women and girls a one-day golf taster experience to encourage more women to take up the game. Another women's day I hear you say. Why is it needed when we already have an  International Girls and Women in Sports Day? Well, Golf is still perceived as a sport for older, middle-class, white males and women are underrepresented, more than in other sports. There is a lot more that can be done for women’s golf and for years golf clubs have looked for ways to engage women in the sport....

Where are the ladies?

As discussed in a previous blog of mine, in the UK there is a stark dominance of men in golf which continues to strike me. In fact the UK has one of the worst ratios in the world for the proportion of women who play golf compared to men. I am wondering why women are not taking up the sport more, especially since the Equality Act was introduced 6 years ago to address discrimination in social settings such as golf clubs which were known for their long history of gender-based discrimination. Stay stylish - avoid a visorhead on the golf course

Who doesn’t dread the hat head or visor head at the end of a golf round : unattractive static yet-at-the-same-time flat hair with dents in the area where the hat sat. When it comes to taking the hat off hoping for the best outcome is not going to be enough. Those hair dents will be there unless you take actions to avoid them appearing in the first place.
